How did I get here
does it really even matter
if nothing changes about the way
you react to me

I was made from the earth
I am the earth
now that's something powerful
to state

How dare I, right
what you believe
is your privilege
what I receive is my inheritance.

You had me held in your maze
Before you knew my inspection
Reflection
I took one look at your photograph
And lost my train of thought
I was starstruck
For you became my celebrity
Instantly
And then
I saw you
Standing before me
Center stage
And I wanted you
To hear your words
Stroking my ear drums
Like your fingers
Manipulate strings
To make melodies
I wanted to take you home
With me on paper or discs
Elation
Invitation
You took me home with you instead
Leftover chicken and conversation
The moon was high
We watched movies of other stars
Until sleep took over
We lay with closed eyes
And opened arms
Warm embraces
Cuddle style
With the morning sun
We were one in artist spirit
And I became a groupie
But now it seems that you can't
Get enough of me!

Nurturer

Nurturing is just something that
all women have the propensity
to do
Now who she is and how she has
become the woman she is
dictates
just how well she
Nurtures
some of us do it so well
that we got stories to tell
of how we raised children
we didn't birth
How we mentored little boys
who walk the earth
as well balanced
good loving
intelligent men
How we cultured the little
pearl of a princess
who now parades
the stage of life
like a model
an angel
a wife.

Nurturing is just something that
all women have the propensity
to do
we can provide
nourishment
for the mental
the physical
the emotional
and the spiritual
We feed the body with well cooked meals
simple to complex
women 
support
and encourage
the babies of generations
with our love
training
education
and development
to foster life giving spirits
to promising
poets
teachers
and musicians.
