My Man

My man is gorgeous
I felt him near me
I heard his voice
and peppermint
is the taste of him
others see him and ask
and others see us and know

My man is gorgeous
and he's with me wherever
I am
he goes
and when I can't see him
he sees me

My man is gorgeous
tall, thick and pretty brown
his arms got me
his feet carry me
attached to his legs
that keep both of us

My man is gorgeous
I want him
when I think of him
I want him
when I embrace him
I keep him in my heart

My man is gorgeous
he was with me in my
dreams
he has me talking in my
sleep
and when I wake up

My man is gorgeous
he inspires me to write poetry
he is my poetry
my prose
my vocabulary

My man is gorgeous
he's my therapy
he keeps me straight
and bends my curves
and strokes my alters

My man is gorgeous

My natural woman My spirit woman She wants the same thing To be recognized Loved Held Respected By a man The natural man The spirit man She says she wants him To be one The same So she waits He knocks Doors open Windows too So much goodness Overflowing And she wonders They listen Fast Steady Eyes shut Heart opened Sounds strange at first Those words spoken We remember a spirit man Sees me woman like God Sees his daughter And we smile

There's A Warrant

I want God to arrest me
to seize me and stop my madness
by his legal right as my creator
to grab a hold of me
keeping me in his custody
for an eternity of goodness
love and protection
I want God to arrest me
to attract me to His essence
like a bumblebee is drawn to
nectar smells emanating from a
flower growing out of a rock
I want God to arrest me
fix me for the future
that I might be engaged
involved and excited
attentive to the things of
humanity
I want God to arrest me
to check me
to slow me down and check
my course
that my forward progress
would lead me to success
straight and narrow
I want God to arrest me
to control the activity
of my mind and my body
that my soul might go on
to find it's peaceful place in
the midst of any storm.

Arrested

I want him in my life
My everyday
The every other word
Described
Using vernacular never repeated
With the exact same meaning
Because my vocabulary
Is just that large
Making me a dictionary
Of love giving
Poetry composed of
Melodies that soothes
Babies, beasts
Bad boys and bitches
People screaming for attention
I want him in my life
My everyday
To keep me
Arrested

A Good Man

From his head down
To the soul of his feet
He's got to be more in
Love with God
Than he's infatuated
With me
I have to know he has
A knowledge of his
Self worth in the scheme of
Life
How he holds up under
Pressure is a concern
Of mine
How he values living
And respects time
There's so much excitement
Passion and ecstasy left
To explore
Holding on to me while
I travel the spiritual realm
Takes more than muscle
To come along for the ride
Some days are feather light
We roll, glide and fly
And always we are love
Peace and serenity!

Spiritual Strategy

Gotta make a change
In selection process
You know a new approach
For success
Been focused on the wrong
Substance
Hoping to find a King
For a Queen
Always left with a little bit
Of a mess
Direct result of
Counseling with the flesh
Sat down
Had a conversation
With myself
Jesus held the pen
And God did all the talking
I woke up from
My dream conference
And now what's left
Is for me to get to walking
Implementing
Starting with a new set
Of question
What's your take
On God, universe or Spirit
Have you been baptized by water
Washed in the blood
Filled with Holy Ghost power
Have you taken responsibility
For your own sinful actions
Or are you still maturing
Running in place
With no traction
I'm not professing to be
A saint but I know who I am
In the Heavenly realm
So you can answer
With the truth or you can evade
But whatever the case
I'm going to be ahead
Spritual strategy
Trinity unity
Ride or die
In the end we fly
Jesus, God and I.

Air Balloon

I keep trying to love
Let go
Let God
Have this relationship
That doesn't exist between the two
Of us
But the less I try to love
The harder opening up
To the reality seems to get
The more I esteem him
The madder I become
That I can't shed him
Like hair fell from our cat
On the floor
On my sweater
In the middle of winter
I'm not playing games
With him or with my heart
I've stood naked in my emotions
Completely exposed
Right down to my pretty brown skin
Verbs, adjectives, nouns
And moles
I know God hears me so the plan
Must be more than I can comprehend
So for this moment
I'm going to let him rest in the
Corners of my recesses while God
Works on me
Lest I digress
To hostile intent.

Solo

I live alone
I don't like it
Anymore now than I did
When my children left me
For their summer breaks
And growing sojourns
But I'm mature enough to
Know this season is a study
Program of God's proportions
A ration at a time
I'm to learn of Him and how
I've come to be
It's deeper than the eye can see
We are dense, deep and complex
Yet easy as breathing
Inhale to exhale
A poetic prophetic phrase
For me first and then for those He
Sends this way.
I live alone
I don't like it
The silence is not my cup
Of serenity
But I hear God
Speak to my heart about the
Burdens of His children and reality
I alone cannot save the world
But in His hands I am a balm
Tangible and my words are His words
Spoken to bless, to comfort, console and confirm
By the light of the moon
An evening breeze
Peace and melodies
Soothe and appease the tension that torments
I am a current of God's transforming energy.
I live alone
I don't like it.
